Live From The Athleta Red Carpet

Last Tuesday (yes I’m late—no Internet is peaceful in theory, annoying in real life) I had the pleasure of live broadcasting the grand opening of Athleta in Birmingham as part of the B Metro blog team. Chances are if you follow me on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram, you saw my posts. Chances are greater that those who follow me on the social medias are no longer reading my blog. Or my friends. #Ikid #ornot

Athleta’s party was hosted by B Metro Magazine—they helped generate hype for the grand opening, offered food and wine, and got LisaAbby, and me to help promote the event in real time.

I had obviously heard of Athleta, but I had never tried their clothes before and had no idea that they had such a cult following—similar to Lululemon. (Do I dare speak their name in this post? Will I get struck down by the fitness fashion gods?) This is Athleta’s first store in Alabama, and the ladies of Birmingham have clearly been waiting for this moment. They welcomed the company with open arms—and wallets. There were over 400 RSVPs to the party, and the line started forming half an hour before the event started. For clothes! That you sweat in! Athleta must be legit.

The store was hopping from 6-8:30 p.m., and the night flew by in a flurry of photos, tweets, laughs, and wardrobe changes. Here are some snapshots that tell the story of the party:

So I ended up with this soft-as-silk black racerback that fits much better (read: hides my ribs)

I also love this ruffled skirt that will only add to my “Aw, isn’t she sweet?” facade on the trails

Bonus – the outfit passed the jump test!
